The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA)
Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) today released its latest
national directory of over 22,000 local mental health service programs in
the U.S. Organized in a State-by-State format that is sorted
alphabetically by city, the directory is a quick-reference tool for health
care providers, social workers, managed care organizations, and the
general public.

Entries are grouped within cities by type of organization including

treatment center for emotionally disturbed children, residential treatment
center for adults, general hospital with separate psychiatric services,
outpatient mental health clinic, substance abuse and mental health
organization and veterans organizations. In addition to name, location

types of facilities, including programs for adults and children and the
specific services offered—hospital inpatient, residential or

consumers, family members, and others to easily access information on
mental health organizations," said CMHS Director Bernard S. Arons, M.D.
The directory can also be used to plan and build local service networks
and develop mailing lists for meetings, health fairs, and other events.
