The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority is accepting applications for its Small Projects Funding Program.   The program is designed to create new services of direct benefit to Trust beneficiaries.  These services are not normally funded by another part of government. They can be innovative, new program ideas, or substantially improve and supplement existing activities.  They can also significantly increase the quality of ongoing projects.  Each small project is limited to a maximum of $10,000. The intent is to spend one-half of the Small Projects Fund ($250,000 yearly) on high quality rural projects. The next deadline is February 1.  For more information, call 907-269-7960 or visit www.mhtrust.org.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is accepting applications for its Adolescent Treatment Coordination Program.  The program is designed to build the capacity in States to provide effective, accessible, and affordable substance abuse treatment for youth and their families.  Grants will provide funding to support a staff position and a State process to access, facilitate and coordinate ongoing, self-sustaining cross-system planning for effective adolescent substance abuse treatment.  The deadline is February 2.  For more information, contact Randolph Muck at 240-276-1576 or visit www.samhsa.gov.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is accepting applications for its Faith in Action Program.  The program creates coalitions that bring together religious congregations of many faiths, and other community organizations such as hospitals, clinics, and hospices in a common mission to provide volunteer care to their neighbors in need.  The Foundation provides start-up grants to help communities organize new coalitions for volunteer caregiving.  The Foundation also provides funding for technical support and advice on how to develop successful, sustainable caregiving programs.  Applications are reviewed on a four-month cycle.  The next deadline is February 1.  For more information, call 877-324-8411 or visit www.fiavolunteers.org.
