The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) has $1.5 million available for the development of rental housing for hard to serve persons who are severely mentally ill.  Up to $250,000 is also available for operating expenses related to this project.  The deadline is August 10.  For more information, contact Mark Romick at 907-330-8274 or 800-478-2432 or visit www.ahfc.state.ak.us.

 

The Administration on Aging (AoA) has announced two grant programs.  The Model State Performance Outcome Measures Program is for State Agencies on Aging, working in collaboration with one or more Area Agencies on Aging.  The AoA expects to award up to 20 cooperative agreement awards for up to $50,000 each.  The deadline is August 1.  For more information, contact David Bunoski at 202-260-0669.  The Native American Caregiver Support Program is for existing Title VI grantees to expand their currently approved application for carrying out this program.  The purpose of the program is to help families caring for an older relative with a chronic illness or disability.  The deadline is August 1.  For more information, contact Yvonne Jackson at 202-619-2713 or visit www.aoa.gov/aoa to learn more about both opportunities.

 

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is accepting applications for two programs.  The Tribal Youth Program is designed to support and enhance tribal efforts for a comprehensive delinquency prevention and control program, and for juvenile justice system improvements for American Indian and Alaska Native youth.  The deadline is July 19.  For more information, contact Laura Ansera at 202-307-5924.  The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is designed to enhance comprehensive community-wide strategies for creating safe and drug-free schools and promoting healthy childhood development.  The deadline is July 16.  For more information, call 202-307-5911 or visit www.ojjdp.ncjrs.org to learn more about both opportunities.

 

The Tides Foundation is accepting online Letters of Intent until July 10 from nonprofit organizations who serve a wide variety of social issues, including those nonprofits that serve Native communities.  For more information, visit www.tides.org/foundation.

 

The Handspring Foundation is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations that operate programs dedicated to preschool through 12th grade or to issues directly related to at-risk children and youth.  Emphasis is given to programs that serve homeless children, abused or neglected children, or children in foster care or juvenile detention.  The deadline is August 1.  For more information, visit www.handspring.com/company/foundation.

 

The Brookdale Foundation is accepting applications for its National Group Respite Program which assists local community groups in developing respite services for people with Alzheimer’s disease and for their family caregivers.  Grants will provide $7,500 the first year, with the possibility of a $3,000 extension in the second year based upon an evaluation.  Nonprofit organizations and public agencies that focus on dementia issues are eligible.  The deadline is July 12.   For more information, contact Eva Williams at 212-308-7355 or view www.ewol.com/brookdale.

 

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is accepting applications for the next Local Initiative Funding Partners Program.  The program is designed to establish partnerships between RWJF and local grantmakers in support of innovative, community-based projects that focus on underserved and at-risk populations.  The deadline for concept letters is August 1.  For more information, visit www.rwjf.org.

 

Tesoro Alaska Petroleum Company funds in the areas of health, education and research, arts and culture, environment, community and youth.  Organizations receiving funds from the United Way are not eligible to apply.  Grants range up to $5,000 and are reviewed bi-weekly.  For more information, contact Jinny Zutz at 907-561-5521.
