The State Division of Behavioral Health is accepting applications to implement evidence-based practice pilot projects for supported employment, illness management and recovery. They are also looking for emerging practices in treating seriously emotionally disturbed children and youth with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. The deadline is June 25. The National Center for Rural Law Enforcement provides free Internet access to rural law enforcement agencies serving populations of less than 25,000.

The American Academy of Pediatrics provides grants of up to $10,000 for its CATCH Planning Grant Program. The program supports pediatricians in planning a community-based child health initiative. The goal is to access and document the needs of children in the community, develop collaborative partnerships for planning the initiative, and successfully prepare for the implementation of a program. The American Dental Association, through its Samuel Harris Fund for Children's Dental Health Endowment, provides grants of up to $5,000 for oral health promotion programs. The goal is to improve and maintain children's oral health through community education programs, focusing on children whose socio-economic status impacts on their access to professional oral care and adversely affects their oral health habits at home. The deadline is July 9.

RadioShack provides grants to nonprofit organizations that help families protect their children from abduction, violence and abuse. The next deadline in their quarterly grant cycle is June 15. The American Legacy Foundation is soliciting applications for its Small Innovative Grants program that is designed to support efforts to reduce and prevent tobacco use. First year grants may total up to $100,000, and recipients may apply for a second year of support totaling up to 50 percent of the first year's award. Grants are designed to support new projects, to enable an organization to carry out new ideas or approaches, or to help an organization conduct research on tobacco control. There is no deadline. The beneficiaries of the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority include those Alaskans experiencing mental illness; developmental disabilities; chronic alcoholism; or Alzheimer's disease or related disorders. You can learn more about the Trust at www.mhtrust.org.
The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority's Small Projects Funding program is designed to create new services of direct benefit to Trust beneficiaries.
These services are not normally funded by another part of government. They can be
innovative, new program ideas, or substantially improve and supplement existing activities. They can also significantly increase the quality of ongoing projects. Each small project is limited to a maximum of $10,000. The intent is to spend
half of the Small Projects Fund ($250,000 yearly) on high quality rural projects.
