The Alaska Department of Community and Economic Development is soliciting proposals for its Planning and Implementation of Rural Energy End Use Efficiency Upgrades Program.  The Alaska Energy Authority is providing funding in rural communities in Western, Northwest, and Southwest Alaska, based on energy audit recommendations.  The deadline is October 15.  For more information, contact Rebecca Garrett at 907-269-4624 or visit www.dced.state.ak.us.

The U.S. Administration on Developmental Disabilities assists people with developmental disabilities to reach maximum potential through increased independence, productivity, and community integration.  These state-based programs address all elements of the life-cycle: prevention; diagnosis; early intervention; therapy; education; training; employment; and community living and leisure opportunities.  For more information, call 202-690-6590 or visit www.acf.dhhs.gov.

 

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is accepting applications for its Faith in Action Program.  The program creates coalitions that bring together religious congregations of many faiths, and other community organizations such as hospitals, clinics, and hospices in a common mission to provide volunteer care to their neighbors in need.  The Foundation provides start-up grants to help communities organize new coalitions for volunteer caregiving.  The Foundation also provides funding for technical support and advice on how to develop successful, sustainable caregiving programs.  Applications are reviewed on a four-month cycle.  The next deadline is February 1.  For more information, call 877-324-8411 or visit www.fiavolunteers.org.

The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority's Small Projects Funding program is designed to create new services of direct benefit to Trust beneficiaries.  These services are not normally funded by another part of government. They can be

innovative, new program ideas, or substantially improve and supplement existing activities.  They can also significantly increase the quality of ongoing projects.  Each small project is limited to a maximum of $10,000. The intent is to spend one-half of the Small Projects Fund ($250,000 yearly) on high quality rural projects.
