The State Department of Health and Social Services is requesting proposals for its Housing and Vehicle Modification Capital Grant Program.  The goal is to provide statewide housing and vehicle modifications for Alaska Mental Health Trust beneficiaries and individuals with special needs.  Approximately $564,000 is available.  The deadline is November 12.  For more information, contact Pamela Wlimoth-Schaf at 907-465-1873 or visit www.hss.state.ak.us.

 

The U.S. Administration on Children, Youth and Families offers Child Welfare Services to public welfare agencies that focus on keeping families together.  Services that are available include preventive intervention aimed at keeping children within the home; services to develop alternative placements, such as foster care or adoption; and reunification services so children can return home.  Funding is provided by formula grants.  For more information, call 202-205-8618 or visit www.acf.dhhs.gov.

 

The Foundation for Child Development is accepting applications for research projects on the children of immigrant families.  The program is designed to help scholars by supporting studies on the development, early education, and health needs of immigrant children who are up to 10 years old.  Grants of up to $150,000 over one to three years are available.  The deadline is November 1.  For more information, call 212-213-8337 or visit http://www.fcd-us.org.

The beneficiaries of the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority include those Alaskans experiencing mental illness; developmental disabilities; chronic alcoholism; or Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders.  You can learn more about the Trust at www.mhtrust.org.

 

The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority's Small Projects Funding program is designed to create new services of direct benefit to Trust beneficiaries.  These services are not normally funded by another part of government. They can be

innovative, new program ideas, or substantially improve and supplement existing activities.  They can also significantly increase the quality of ongoing projects.  Each small project is limited to a maximum of $10,000. The intent is to spend one-half of the Small Projects Fund ($250,000 yearly) on high quality rural projects.
