The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority
Welcome to this List Serv sponsored by the Alaska Mental
Health Trust Authority’s Rural Funding Coordination Project. These messages provide information about
current government and private grants, conference and training opportunities,
publications, and potential funding sources, with an emphasis on rural Alaska.
The Denali Commission is requesting letters of
interest for potential funding for Health Care and Multi Use Facility
Programs. They are anticipating
approximately $40 to $50 million for these projects by April 1, 2004. Even though the Commission has not yet
received any funding for 2004, they want to be prepared to allocate funds
received in a timely manner. The
Commission is expanding its Health Care Facility Program beyond primary
care facility improvements, and will place an emphasis on funding construction
ready health facility projects. There is
no deadline for primary care clinics and frontier extended stay
clinic/community health centers. The
deadline for rural hospital primary care improvements, assisted living
facilities and behavioral health facilities is November 25. For more information, contact Joel Neimeyer
at 907-271-1459. The Multi Use
Facility Program is designed to encourage consolidation of compatible
essential community services, eliminating duplication and increasing the
efficiency of services that are delivered.
The deadline is November 19. For
more information, contact Rachael Petro at 907-271-1425. To view all these programs, visit www.denali.gov.

fields, and integrating that knowledge into real-world practice. The grants will fund up to 75 percent of the
total direct costs of planned meetings and conferences. Grant awards are expected to range from
$25,000 to $50,000. Indirect costs are
not allowed. The deadline is January
10. For more information, contact David
Morrissette at 301-443-3653 or visit www.samhsa.gov.

evaluate public and private policies to reduce the harm caused by the use of
tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs. The
deadline is November 7. For more
information, contact Tracy Enright Patterson at 336-716-5170 or visit www.saprp.org.

The Alaska Mental
Health Trust Authority's Small Projects Funding program is designed to create new services of
direct benefit to Trust beneficiaries.
These services are not normally funded by another part of government.
They can be
innovative, new program
ideas, or substantially improve and supplement existing activities. They can also significantly increase the
quality of ongoing projects. Each small
project is limited to a maximum of $10,000. The intent is to spend
half of the Small
Projects Fund ($250,000 yearly) on high quality rural projects.
The deadlines are
February 1, June 1 and October 1. For
more information,
call 907-269-7960 or
