Issue 3: Management Information Systems
Goal: Develop tracking systems to rapidly identify mentally ill offenders and ensure appropriate services within the criminal justice and mental health systems, and to allow coordination of services across these systems.
Discussion
Confidentiality issues need to be addressed to allow for exchange of information to identify mentally ill individuals who need increased coordination between the legal community and mental health providers. Management information systems could be designed to address both the need to identify individuals entering each system and those common to both systems.
