Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to invite you to attend the next meeting of the Presidential Task Force on
Employment of Adults with Disabilities to be held on December 14, 1998 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m.  The Task Force is honored that Vice President Al Gore has accepted our invitation to
participate at this meeting.

We are pleased to announce the publication and official release of Re-charting the
Course--First Report of the Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities.
Through significant effort and extraordinary commitment of dozens of people from government
agencies and the Executive Office of the President a strategy is emerging.  This strategy
identified throughout Re-charting the Course is a beginning toward the development of a
comprehensive plan to be finalized and fully operational by July 26, 2002 the tenth anniversary
of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The December 14, 1998 agenda will include stimulating presentations and discussions related to
employment of adults with disabilities. Chairs of the Section 2 Work Groups, as mandated by
Executive Order, will present summaries of the highlights of their findings. The Work Group
reports are included in Appendix A of Re-charting the Course.

Re-charting the Course displays the commitment of the multiple federal agencies collaborating,
thinking creatively across traditional boundaries and turf. Task Force members are committed to
building alliances and working as partners with adults with disabilities, business and
industry, employers, families, and other interested persons, realizing that coalitions are one
of the keys to building a future workforce that truly reflects America.

We hope you will be able to attend this important meeting. The meeting will take place at the
Ronald Reagan Building and the International Trade Center, Atrium Ballroom, 1300 Pennsylvania
Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.  If you require additional information, please call Lori
Peterson at 202-219-6081.

Sincerely,

Rebecca L. Ogle
Executive Director
Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities
